Norrenberger has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable community development as the Headline Sponsor of the 2026 Charity Half Marathon organised by Run Club Abuja (RCA), marking the third consecutive year of its partnership on one of Nigeria’s foremost community fitness initiatives.

Held on Saturday, 11 July under the theme #RunForACause this year’s event brought together more than 1,000 runners across the 21km, 10km and 5km race categories, reinforcing the growing role of sport as a platform for social impact, community engagement and healthier lifestyles.

Beyond the race itself, the 2026 edition was driven by a clear purpose. Proceeds from the marathon will fund the procurement of neonatal equipment – incubators, respirators and nebulisers – valued at ₦12.4 million for two public hospitals serving underserved communities in the Kuje and Abaji Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory, helping to improve maternal and newborn healthcare while contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being).

For Norrenberger, the partnership reflects a deliberate approach to sustainability, one that prioritises measurable outcomes and long-term community value.

Commenting on the Group’s continued sponsorship, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tony Edeh, said the decision to support the initiative over multiple years reflects confidence in the impact the platform continues to deliver.

“Three years ago, this was a bet on a young initiative doing meaningful work in Abuja. Today, it has become a proven platform for community impact. We invest where outcomes are measurable, and this year’s intervention will help provide equipment capable of saving the lives of mothers and newborns in hospitals that need it most.”

The Group Head, Strategy and Sustainability, Amani Momodu, noted that the partnership aligns closely with the Group’s approach to sustainability/responsible business practice, driving societal change and its commitment to translating strategy into measurable impact.

“At Norrenberger, sustainability is embedded in how we create value. Supporting the RCA Charity Half-Marathon allows us to contribute meaningfully to health equity through an intervention that is transparent, measurable and directly linked to improved outcomes for vulnerable communities.”

Since partnering with Run Club Abuja in 2024, Norrenberger has helped strengthen the growth of the Charity Half-Marathon into a broader platform for community engagement and measurable social investment. The partnership has continued to evolve beyond event sponsorship to include shared accountability around participation, visibility and post-event impact reporting.

As Headline Sponsor, Norrenberger maintained a strong presence throughout race day, with employees participating across the various race categories, a dedicated brand activation experience and real-time digital engagement that amplified the event’s message and encouraged wider public participation.

Norrenberger remains committed to supporting initiatives that create lasting value for the communities it serves while advancing its broader purpose of simplifying wealth creation and driving sustainable prosperity across Africa.
