Abuja, Nigeria [June 11, 2025]: Norrenberger a leading integrated financial services group, has once again partnered with Run Club Abuja, a fitness community situated in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, as the headline sponsor for the 5th edition of the Charity Half Marathon Abuja, scheduled to take place on July 12, 2025. In the lead-up to the event, a media parley was held at Norrenberger’s Head Office in Maitama, Abuja, to officially announce the renewed partnership between Norrenberger and Run Club Abuja.
Representing Norrenberger at the event, Queen Ehi-Uujamhan, Group Chief Finance Officer, spoke on behalf of Tony Edeh, Group Managing Director/CEO, “Why education? Because at Norrenberger, we believe that education is the most powerful bridge to simplify wealth creation- especially in a society where access to knowledge, tools, and opportunity remains uneven. If we want to build a wealthier Nigeria, we must start by building a more informed, empowered, and equipped generation. As Tunde Onakoya fondly says, “It is possible to do great things from a small place.”
Speaking at the event, Dapo Lawanson, Club Administration Member who represented Buchi Onyegbule, President of Run Club Abuja, shared the inspiring origin story of the club’s charity initiative, “To mark our first anniversary in 2021, Run Club Abuja introduced the Charity Half Marathon – an event that has since become a defining part of who we are: a community committed to giving back.We began by supporting a not-for-profit school in Asokoro. In 2022, we refitted and supplied equipment and medication to the Primary Health Care Centre in Dei-Dei. Over the years, we’ve remained consistent in this mission- including our work last year with the Alheri Leprosy Community in Kwali during the 4th edition of the run.”
To conclude the event, Saadatu Fali Hamu, a member of the Local Organising Committee, spoke on behalf of Peju Lawanson, Chairperson of the 2025 Charity Half Marathon Local Organising Committee. In her remarks, she shared the driving force behind this year’s initiative,” Our charity project aims to bridge the digital divide by providing a digital library and computers to students at a government school in Abuja. This initiative will enhance digital literacy, improve academic performance, expand access to educational resources, and open future career opportunities. The impact of this project will be truly transformative. By equipping these students with digital skills, we are not just providing tools – we are investing in their futures, and in the future of our nation.”
The event brought together executives from both organizations, members of the press, and key stakeholders. As a symbolic gesture of appreciation and collaboration, Run Club Abuja presented Norrenberger with framed displays of this year’s official race, jersey and medal. This gathering set the tone for the weeks ahead, reinforcing a partnership rooted in purpose, community engagement, and the shared goal of empowering future generations through education.
